Interdistrict Transfers
Want to attend Selma Unified School District, but live a different district? Parents will need to complete an Interdistrict Transfer with their home district.
Parents who reside within the school district boundaries other than Selma Unified School District, and wish to have their children attend Selma must complete an Interdistrict Transfer. The process begins with a request to the child's home district. If the Interdistrict Transfer Request is approved by the home district, it will be forwarded to Selma Unified School District. - An Interdistrict Transfer Request received 16 or more calendar days before commencement of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the district must notify parents as soon as possible, but not later than 14 calendar days after the start of instruction in that school year.
- Any request received 15 or fewer calendar days before the start of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the district must notify parents of its final decision within 30 calendar days of receiving the request.
Interdistrict Attendance Permits
Upon request by students' parents/guardians, the Superintendent or designee may approve interdistrict attendance permits with other districts on a case-by-case basis to meet individual student needs.
The interdistrict attendance agreement shall not exceed a term of five years and shall stipulate the terms and conditions under which interdistrict attendance shall be permitted or denied. (Education Code 46600)

Enrollment Priorities
- Based on availability of space, all students residing within a school's attendance area shall be eligible to attend that school.
- During the first two weeks of each school year, no student currently residing within a school's attendance area shall be displaced by another student.
- A child of an employee who resides within the district and works in a given school attendance area shall be considered a resident of that attendance area.
- No student who resides within the school attendance area and is currently on a waiting listshallbedisplacedbystudentstransferringfromoutsidetheattendance area.
- Once a parent/guardian rejects an opportunity for placement from a waiting list, that child's name shall be removed from the waiting list.
- Based on availability of space, students will be admitted to a school in the following order:
- Children who reside in the attendance area, as verified by residency requirement (AR 5111.1).
- Children of employees who live in the district and work at the school lite.
- Children whose parents/guardians have filed an "Affidavit of Residence" with the appropriate verification (AR 5111.1).
- Children whose parents/guardians have filed an "Affidavit of Residence," but do not have appropriate verification (AR 5111.1).
- Children on approved intradistrict transfers.
- Children of employees who have an interdistrict transfer on file.
- Children on interdistrict transfers.
- Children who reside in the attendance area, as verified by residency requirement (AR 5111.1).
